Glenn P. Holmes:
First line inventor of the Jack A Glass (JAG) and current owner of Generation Glass & Showers of San Antonio, TX.
Mr. Holmes was born in Beaumont, TX. His father, Charles H. Holmes, was manager of Binswanger Glass Company and later in corporate management with Binswanger at their headquarters in TN. He began his glass career as an apprentice under his grandfather, Thomas (Tommy) Lozano, a Binswanger Glass man since 1926. Together, Charles and Tommy had 89 years of glazing and management background before their retirements.
A tremendous talent, Tommy taught Glenn to utilize his skills and tools to become a great glass craftsman while his father instilled professional management and business skills which he practices to this day. Glenn remained with Binswanger for 25 years until 2006 when he opened his own glass shop, Generation Glass and Showers.
As the Euro door (frameless shower door) gained popularity and with his business in its infancy he found himself installing the Euro doors with little or no assistance. As a result of the requirements to adjust the doors during installation the process is time consuming and the risk factor for damaging the door is a concern for any installer. Enter the phrase “necessity is the mother of all inventions”.
Glenn devised a tool where he could adjust the door without shims and achieve perfect alignment, all the while saving time (translated, money saved),, increasing the quality of the finished product and improving the safety factor of glass installation.
For years glaziers have used the term “let’s jack the glass” to describe raising or lowering glass to its correct installation height, hence the product was named “JACK A GLASS”, a.k.a. the “JAG”.
Bobby R. Hollis:
Bobby Hollis was also born in Beaumont, TX and has over 40 years of sales and marketing experience. He has worked for several Fortune 500 companies as well as regional companies in both sales and management. He successfully started and owned four companies including telecommunications distribution, remanufacturing, marketing research collection, and printing/promotional products.
